About the Structure Character of Mud Pump

Power End

Frame
The frame is a welded structure, and the transmission shaft and bearing seat of the crankshaft are made of cast steel. After rough machining, it is welded with the shell. The crankshaft bearing is strengthened with ribs, and anneal treatment is used to release weld stress, improving rigidity and strength.

Crankshaft
The crankshaft is made of cast alloy steel. The large gear rim, pitmen, and bearings are installed on the crankshaft. The gear type of the large gear rim is an integrated herringbone. The inner hole of the large gear rim and the crankshaft are interference fit and fastened with bolts and lock nuts. The large ends of the pitmen are installed on the three eccentric axles of the crankshaft through single-row short cylindrical roller bearings, while the small ends are installed on the crosshead pins through double-row long cylindrical roller bearings. The crankshaft is supported by two double-row annular ball bearings.

Pinion Shaft
The pinion shaft is forged from alloy steel and includes a herringbone gear with medium hardness. To facilitate repair, a single-row long cylindrical roller bearing without a baffle is adopted. The two ends of the pinion shaft extend outside the shell, allowing pulleys to be installed on each end.

Crosshead
The crosshead is made of spherical graphite cast iron and has good wear resistance for extended life. F-1000/800 mud pumps use top and bottom guide plates, with concentricity adjustable through a bottom plate with spacers. The connection between the crosshead and the central pull rod is flanged with a pin-matched hole, ensuring concentricity between the central rod and the crosshead. The central rod is connected with the piston rod through a hub, and this light hub ensures a reliable connection.

Fluid End

Cylinder
The cylinder is forged from alloy steel, and the three cylinders on the F-1000 mud pump are interchangeable. The valve-on-valve structure design reduces cylinder volume and improves efficiency. If required, the cylinder surface can be nickel-coated to enhance corrosion resistance. Discharge bladder, shear pin safety valve, and discharge strainer screen are installed on each discharge outlet of the three cylinders. The suction inlet is a 10” flange on the F-800 mud pump and a 12” flange on the F-1000 mud pump.

Valve Assembly
API 6# valve is used for both F-800 and F-1000 mud pumps. The suction and discharge valves are interchangeable.

Liner
The liner can be processed with a double metal layer, with the inner layer being wear-resistant cast iron with hardness HRC60~65. It also has good corrosion resistance and a high degree of cleanliness. The liner is inserted into the cylinder through the front hole and fixed using a push rod, cylinder block, and cylinder head.

Piston and Piston Rod
The piston and piston rod are sealed through the cylinder surface and rubber ring, with lock nuts used to prevent loosening. Parts on the fluid end of F-800 and F-1000 are interchangeable, including the cylinder, liner, piston, valve body, valve seat, valve spring, seals, valve head, and cylinder head.

Spray System
The spray system includes a spray pump, cool-down water tank, and spray pipe. It is used to cool and wash the liner and piston, extending their life. The spray pump is a centrifugal pump and can be driven by a belt with a pulley installed on the extended end of the input shaft or directly by an electric motor. Water is used to cool and lubricate it. The spray pipe is installed on the hub connecting the middle pull rod and piston rod, moving reciprocally with the piston. The nozzle is close to the piston, ensuring continuous cooling of the contact surface between the piston and cylinder. A stationary spray pipe can also be used for longer life.

Lubrication System
A combination of pressure lubrication and splash lubrication is used for the power end. Oil is pumped by a gear oil pump from the oil tank to the crosshead, middle pull rod, crosshead guide, and bearings through a lubrication pipeline. The gear oil pump's working condition can be monitored via a pressure gauge located at the back of the frame.

Suction System
The suction system prevents air blockages due to low air pressure at the pump inlet. It consists of a base, butterfly valve, and manifold. The suction pump on the suction manifold can be driven by an electric motor or a belt on the input shaft of the mud pump, reducing power consumption.
